What is a 3D TV?

It is television or video that gives its viewers a perception of depth. That is, a viewer can feel the depth of different objects while watching TV. The same perception of depth was possible earlier with Stereoscopic TV.

This perception of depth is given to the viewers by providing slightly different views of the same scene, to each eye of a user. By analysing the differences between these two images, the human brain is able to distinguish objects at different depths.

In stereoscopic TV, all the viewers of the scene will see the same view. This is similar to the present IMAX cinemas, which shows 3D movies. The difference between 3D TV and stereoscopic TV is that, different views will see different views of the same scene. For example, in a future cinemas the displays 3D movies with this technology, the viewers will see different views of the scene, depending upon the place they sit, in the cinema.

Of course, you still need to wear the special kind of 3D glasses because the technology that would let us see in 3D is still in the laboratories. However, these are not the same kind of glasses you get given in the cinema, the 3D glasses you use to watch 3D television are a special kind called Active Shutter Glasses.

The first "3D Ready" HDTVs was released by Samsung in April 2007. In 2008, Samsung released the world's first 3D Plasma HDTV. In 2009, Viewsonic released the world's first 120Hz 3D LCD monitor. 2010 will see a flood of 3D HDTVs released by most major consumer electronic manufacturers.


How does it works?

3d Animation works like clay modeling but in a computer. You start with basic shapes and then you tweak it to create a 3d figure.you can view your model from any possible angle. Then you can add a sort of skeleton to make it move. then you can tell each bone or the whole thing how and when to move. Then hit the play button. This is the simple answer. there is a great deal of complexity to creating full 3d animations.

Our eyes are spaced apart from each other, which means our left and right retinas see objects at slightly different angles. In real life, the brain merges these two images into a single three-dimensional image. To recreate this experience of depth on television, a 3D TV will display two separate but overlapping images of the same scene simultaneously, and at slightly different angles as well. One image is intended for the left eye, the other for the right. A pair of Active Glasses helps viewers perceive the two 2D images as one 3D image.
